What we are learning in P.E.!
2017-2018
This week is our week out of the gym, so we utilized the track! We talked about how many laps it took to run a mile, how to run on the track safely, and what happens to our body when we work hard as we exercise (increase heart rate, sweating, rapid breathing, etc). The kids had a great time and I was so proud of their accomplishment! After our mile we came back to the classroom to cool our bodies off with some stretching activities!
Welcome back!!!
The first few weeks of school our focus in K-2nd great is space and movement! We are learning how to move our bodies safely! This week second grade explored movment, pathways, levels, and directions with scarfs!
This week we are back in the classroom and 2nd grade is working on the Skeletal System! Students below are cutting out their skeleton and will put it together and label the major bones in the body!
We haven't slowed down yet! Last week we moved with hula hoops and still focused on moving in personal and general space safely! Kindergarten and First Grade did movement with hoops and played a game called Musical Hoops. In this game they had to share a hoop with other students when the music stopped, instead of sitting out because you couldn't find a hoop. The last round was just one hoop and all students had to have at least one foot inside the hoop without bumping or pushing others. They did a great job! 2nd Grade moved with partners! We did several different activities with leaders and followers and moving with their partner safely. We also learned to make bridges with our bodies with help our muscular strength!
We have been getting our MOVE on in P.E! This week we used all 3 movement cubes to find out different ways to move our body! Of course as we did our movements we made sure to control our bodies in our space (general and personal) so we didn't hit anyone! Ask your kiddos how they move safely each day!! :)
Wish you could hear the music we are moving too!! Also more fun to work out to some good jams!!!
Kindergarten and 1st Graders are working on non-locomotor movements and locomotor movements! We had fun using both these types of movements dancing to the Chicken Dance!
The last couple of weeks K-2 students have been focusing on moving safely in space as well as using various locomotor movements to get from place to another! 2nd Grade played a game called Treasure Hunt that focused on teamwork, moving through space, and locomotor movements.
Working together in our Color Squads! Name of the game: World Cup
