What's going on in pe???
3rd-5th grade is about to jump into their Fitnessgram assessment during the month of September. The Fitnessgram will test students Muscular Strength and Endurance as well as their Cardio - Respiratory endurance through push ups, curl-ups and the PACER test. We do this test in the Fall and the Spring and always work for improvement. This assessment gives us the knowledge we need to drive my instruction to help all students meet the Healthy Fitness Zone and promote a healthy and active lifestyle. This is also part of our state standards. This week we talked about the correct form while performing the push up. Students videoed each other and then analyzed their video to see what areas they were doing well at and what part of the form they needed improvement with. It was great to see how students learned a lot from their video and then making the proper adjustments to correct their form!

Welcome Back!!
The first couple of weeks of school I always try to focus on cooperative games with my 3rd-5th grade students! I want my students to understand the importance trusting each other, respecting each other, and having fun with each other! Today we answered the questions "How does encouragement relate to cooperation?" while playing HulaHut Relays (4th and 5th) and Pass it Around (3rd)

Today we answered the questions "How does encouragement relate to cooperation?" while playing HulaHut Relays (4th and 5th) and Pass it Around (3rd)
Name of the game: Radioactive River
Goal: To get all the equipment and all squad members across the court to the safe hoop
Rules: No squad member can touch the ground and no equipment can be thrown
Skill: Cooperation
Although I only had maybe two groups make it all the way across out of all 2nd-5th grade I was so pleased with seeing how each group supported each other, encouraged each other, listened to each, and never gave up!
